Days Until Calculator

Count down the days, weeks and months until any future date — birthdays, weddings, exams, holidays — with the total in days, hours and weekends.

How the countdown is counted

The number of days is the count of midnights between today and your target date — today itself is not included, so an event tomorrow is "1 day" away and an event today is simply today. Weekends and holidays are all counted, because a countdown is in calendar days. The extra stats break the same span into complete weeks, complete calendar months plus leftover days, total hours, and how many Saturday-or-Sunday days you will pass on the way.

Worked example

Suppose today is 19 July 2026 and you are counting down to 25 December 2026. That is 159 days: 22 weeks and 5 days, or 5 calendar months and 6 days (19 July → 19 December is 5 full months, then 6 more days). It is also 3,816 hours, and 44 of those 159 days are weekend days — and the day itself lands on a Friday.

Counting months the calendar way

Months are not divided by 30 — the calculator walks real months from today's date. From the 19th of one month to the 19th of the next is exactly one month whether that month has 28, 30 or 31 days, and only the days beyond the last full month are shown as leftover days. That matches how people naturally say "3 months and a week away".

Frequently asked questions

Are weekends included in the countdown?
Yes — the countdown is in calendar days, so every day counts. The stats also show how many Saturdays and Sundays fall inside the countdown, and the Business Days Calculator counts working days only.
Is today counted in the number of days?
No. The count is the number of midnights between now and the target date: if the event is tomorrow, that is 1 day. If the target date is today, the calculator celebrates instead of counting.
What if my date is in the past?
A countdown only makes sense forwards, so the calculator will point you to the Date Difference Calculator, which measures how long ago any past date was.
How are the months in the countdown calculated?
They are complete calendar months from today, with the leftover days shown separately. Because months differ in length, "2 months, 3 days" is the calendar answer rather than a division by 30.
Does the countdown update automatically?
It is calculated from your device’s current date each time the page loads, so revisiting (or refreshing) the page always shows the up-to-date number of days.
